In times like these, we all look to where we can help. As Asian Americans, our communities have enjoyed the privilege of the "model minority" for too long, consciously and unconsciously at the expense of other communities. Our mission here is to provide resources, information, and support to those who are looking to dismantle anti-blackness within their families + communities. As Asian Americans, many of our family members may be first generation Americans which poses a unique challenge of educating them on the long and complex history of systemic and institutionalized racism. We have provided some resources below that we, or members of our community, have found helpful. These are documents translated into different languages, videos, and other pieces that you can use as the framework to structure these conversations.
It will likely be a long and arduous process to help them unlearn years of anti-blackness, but we are here to support and help. Please feel free to email us or join our Facebook group and share other helpful resources or translations or success stories of approaches that have worked in your conversations.
